May 15, 2012
Today we met outside the hotel at 8.00, and of course didn’t
leave until 8.30. We walked down to
King’s Cross Station with our luggage and caught a train to Gatwick
Airport. We did the whole
security/airport thing and then walked the 1.5 miles (literally) to our
gate. We hopped on the Easy Jet and asta
la vista London, arividerchi Barcelona.
The flight was a little over an hour and Barcelona is an hour ahead so
we lost a little time traveling. We
landed at 2.00 Barcelona time and hopped on a train that brought us into the
city center. We walked down las Rambas
until we found our hotel. We are staying
at the Cuatro Naciones here in Barcelona and this hotel blows the one in London
out of the water, it is very nice.
However, the “2nd” floor is where all of our rooms are and it
is not two flights of stairs, it’s about six flights. Luckily there is an elevator for when we get
lazy. We had about an hour to unload and
powder our noses until we met in the lobby.
We walked down las Rambas all the way to the beach, stopping and
checking everything out on the way. I
love Barcelona, I’m pretty sure half of the group has already said they are
moving down here. The beach is the
Mediterranean Sea and it is FREEZING, I put my foot in and immediately had to
take it out. We were released for the
day at this point, so we all went back to the hotel and got ready for the
night. We walked around for a while
after showering and what not, just exploring the city and back alleys off of
the main drag which is las Rambas. We
found a great little restaurant and sat down and had dinner, I had a pizza and
it wasn’t terrible. The sangria is
pretty awesome though. We had a late
night stroll down to the beach just to see what was up, we got all the way
there and not a soul was out, so we called it a night. It was a pretty slow day, but much needed
after hectic London. I’ll post again tomorrow.
