Today we woke up at 9.30, went and did laundry, and got
another kebab all before we met up at the new hotel at 12.00. The kebabs here are so much better than Rome,
I didn’t think it was possible either.
They put everything in a pita bread sandwich… to die for. Anyways, we met up with the group and dropped
our bags in a closet in the hotel, the rooms weren’t ready, and surprisingly
everyone made it back from their free days on time. We immediately walked down to La Galleria
Degli Arazzi, it was a museum that seemed to go on for days with statues,
busts, paintings, and monuments either created by famous people or portraying
famous people. Next we went to the
Academia Gallery, it was another museum with some more very interesting works
of art. The this is where the Statue of
David is, your not supposed to but I got a picture, it was tough because they
are on top of it. I had no idea the
statue was as big as it is, probably 30’ tall.
We then went to Ponte Vecchio, it is a bridge on the opposite side of
town. It was pretty cool to see, there
were a lot of shops and street vendors.
Joel got himself a Folex, fake Rolex.
Next we walked BACK across town and through a little straw market, they
all have the same stuff really but there are some really nice leather items
that I want to take another look at. We
came back and finally checked into the rooms.
I’m staying with Dave here in Florence and we got a room on the lowest
level, no four flights of stairs for us.
I worked on catching up on blogs and went and got some pizza… the best
pizza I think I have ever had. We just
chilled out tonight and planned out our night for tomorrow. I got some work done and went to sleep. Check back tomorrow.
