Today we woke up and met the rest of the group at Russell Square station. It wasn't that bad getting ahold of everyone. Some people went to a Starbucks, but we all finally made it to the hotel. We had a little down time to relax until three o clock. At three we all met up at the front of the hotel and did a city walk throughout London, with Dr. Burt leading the way. We walked around for a little while, with Dr Burt pointing out a few interesting buildings near the hotel (different architecture/engineering techniques). The weather went South and it starting raining pretty good. Everyone was wet and we were near the British Museum, so we decided to wait the weather out there. There was plenty of interesting items in the museum but some noticeable ones were the Rosetta Stone and the Elgin Marbles. The entrance hall of the museum was also a great architectural achievement. After the museum we went to carphone warehouse to get the phone sim cards, which took awhile. We were able to observe a jobsite while we waited and we got to see site utilization techniques appropriate for the busy part of London where the job was. We continued to walk through London and saw many landmarks, we stopped by Carnaby Square and visited the shops and pubs there. Then we passed by the national art museum where a few people from our group got to ride the giant lions. After this Dr. Burt pointed out a little pub, which turned out to be very crowded, and we all ate dinner there. Then we caught the tube back to the hotel Mentone and we were officially released for the day. We hung out for a little while as a group and then crashed for the night because we had to be up early in the AM for the next days festivities.
